Me and Farrah Got a Connection

It’s interesting to get smidgens of insight into how people link to your blog. For a window of time last week I saw an interesting pattern (when was traveling and missed out on the week of celebrity deaths). Look at the keyword searches people used in Google to get to CogDogBlog: It’s all Farrah all [...] Related posts:

Swinging a Dead Cat at Video Settings for YouTube

In some of my recent attempts to get good video on YouTube, I seemed to have been swinging wildly and missing. MPEG-4 video that looked great on my desk top ended up with the voice out of sync with the moving lips. Before going about it again, I sought out (via the Oracle) suggested settings [...] Related posts:

Got My Mophie Mojo

All the video/app/being-on-the-net-anywhere fun of the iPhone comes at a cost- the limits of its battery life. And yes, you cannot carry a spare. Since I have some long distance travel I’ve been interested in some for the battery boosters for the iDevices. I was almost ready to go for the Richard Solo device– it [...] Related posts:

Video Call (two strikes already) for Amazing Stories

I’ve started doing some Skype video interviews to collect the material for an upcoming Open Education conference presentation on Amazing Stories of Openness. In an email exchange with Leigh Blackall, I thought it could be fun to post a call for stories on YouTube and ask people to respond in video. it seems so web 2.0ish. I’m [...] Related posts:

SCIS GigaPan Image

Thanks to my group of volunteers who placed them selves in the wide panoramic shot we took from the steps of the Middle School Building for my session on Using Big Wide Images. The GigaPan image was 180 photos (10x18) and first was stiched together:

Five Card Stories Preview

I see the presentation sessions are just being posted, so some of this will be cross posted there, but I've had fun creating a new web site that you will see in action at my session on Telling Stories with Photos on the Cave Wall - aimed at some experience in communcating solely with images.

This prototype site works by creating a pool of photos that people are tagging in the flickr site as 5cardflickr (currently at 438 photos) that… Continue

I Love Web Serendipity

There are so many ways to find interesting things on the web- searches, blog sites, RSS feeds, stuff that flies in via twitter, but my all time favorite is sweet serendipity discovering things by accident. It's the theme for my opening "TED Talk" like session (and just the idea of condensing a message into 10 minutes is another story).

I keep track of my "web serendipity" stories on my blog at http://cogdogblog.com/tag/web-serendipity/ bu… Continue

I'm All Over Photos

If there was a job where you got to go around the world taking photos and uploading to flickr, I would apply right away. If I had to be stranded on a desert island (with broadband internet) and I had to have only one Web 2.0 app,,, it would be flickr. Photography is one of my main passions, and two of my presentations will have a lot to do with communication with or using imagery. I've never tried to exactly figure out why it gels with me-- there is just a sense of magic of being in the world an… Continue

Disregard the last inquiry. As soon as I asked the question, I figured out the answer on my own--such is life. Cheers!

Happy Friday Alan,
Thanks for your presentation this morning! I went to your website but I cannot find that great list of 50+ ways to tell a digital story. Perhaps I am a bit slow... could you lend a little help? Dogs rule, especially big ones. Thanks again, Andi
