A Moment

I think these pictures tell the story better than I can. I always have this weird feeling when the conference is over. Part of me is so relieved that it's over and another part of me never wanted it to end. I was tired, running on pure adrenalin by the end of it but so excited to see educators learning together and from each other.

On Thursday night I challenged the participants to walk away f… Continue

No Stage, Just Conversations

1. Before someone talks you into creating/organizing/hosting a conference make sure you're prepared for the work ahead.

2. Once you are prepared for the work, double the time you think it will take, multiple that by two, and then you might be close.

3. Always remember you are doing this to better education (or educators) or so you hope.

Jeff, I have a question about EARCOS for you. How did you approach EARCOS about sponsoring the conference? We are thinking of doing one in Korea, but not sure who or how to ask EARCOS for funds. They have the application form for workshops, but it doesn't seem to be the right one for what we are doing. Thanks!

Hi Jeff

My aim was to load the South African photo's in the Telling Stories With Pictures Pool but they were clearly 'misdirected' to my profile. Sorry for that. I have loaded my pics in the 'animals' pool. Will delete the ones in my profile.

Ps. We've been in contact before - I was at YIS, Gigi and rest of gang. My husband and me left Saudi a year ago for South Africa.

Thanks for your great sites and work. Regards Sue

Hi Jeff...okay I am very intimidated by the wonderful list of presenters...but i will go ahead and submit my measly presentation..from an experienced international teacher in a real live Turkish school....this has definitely worked with my kids in Izmir, Turkey...although I keep screaming every night about how I am losing my tech skillls!! Yikes...here it is...

The Digi-Kid Booktalk
Get children excited about books by using booktalks. Booktalks are not book reviews but short promos that tease the students into wanting to know more. Why not jazz up the booktalks by adding a technology component? During this workshop, learn how to make use of available technology to enhance integration for student success. From Podcasts to Powerpoint, from MovieMaker to Photostory, Julieanne Hanna, with way too many years of experience, will share ideas that will help you become the Digital-Savvy Booktalker.
hope this is okay..please do keep in touch...cheers..julieanne hanna

Hi Julie,

Our tech conference is for teachers. So "dumb downed" is great. and Early education is even better! On the front page of the conference site there is a link to submit a presentation. I suggest you fill out the form and submit it as soon as possible. They are accepting presentations as them come! We need more things at a basic level for teachers.

hi jeff! you don't know me...but i have followed your stuff since i was in taipei....just moved to izmir, turkey this year with my family and we are struggling, grappling, pounding our heads against the wall with tech integration.....is there any way i could do a workshop at the conference? when is the deadline for application for presenters...i am a tech novice compared to all of you, but i am doing the best i can with the limited hardware, software, everything we have here...i would love to do something for the younger years...early childhood...but i think it would probably be too'dumbed down' for your crew....any ideas???? i will try to coerce our school board to let our tech coordinator come with me....i plan to attend, even if i have to pay my own way....do you need 'workshops for the intermediate tech person' or is it just the gurus? thanks for listening....cheers..julie anne hanna
