I suspect that it has been traditionally believed that the last time you'd want to do staff development was May and early June, just after the school year is over (Northern Hemisphere). It's really part of what education is about, spanning not only the intersecting aspects of life today, what we need about
who we are,
where we are, why we are, and
what we do with all of it. But education is also about help children find their place in the

We had a great planning meeting last night looking at the latest numbers for the conference. Not a good sign when we have more presentations then people registered for the conference. :(
I’m not to worried at this point, but then again I’m not the one in charge of the money. :) This is why there aren’t many educational conferences in September. The timing just isn’t good. Schools are just now really looking at finances for next year and many teachers are not sure what their PD funds will look l…

For a while now, I’ve been intrigued by the ever-growing need for visual literacy in our off- and on-line worlds. This is not ground-breaking stuff…the sense/need for learners to gain visual literacy has been around for a while – even pre-Web.
People have been studying and manipulating how the eye moves over a page of text (see any speed reader…

I have been attempting to set up a private network on Ning; get to know the features, learn how to work with web 2.0. It is only a small family community, but I have some questions. I'll just start with the first though.
Why can't I size widgets? They do not seem to be fitting in properly, either trunkacted or over the box space? But I notice that the learning 2.0 page has the same weather widget I tried and it s compete on their page.

Learning 2.0 was a really interesting conference, the unconference sessions especially. Manning the Twitter station was intimidating at first, but then I realised that it was actually a very simply put together. The wireless problem was something I had expected to happen, because there is no way that we could rely so heavily on technology and have nothing go wrong. But I think that the problem was solved efficiently and didn't ruin the conference, which was surprising.
I learned…

I admire the enthusiasm of the teachers, especially with all this new technology. The unconference working is really impressive, had the session participants been our age, I think the sessions would have fallen apart. They were also reasonably easy to put together, it was much less complicated then I expected.
The range of knowledge from the participants was also amazing, some people didn't know what program was managing their wireless connections and others would open up their bios when the…
